I have recently changed a folder name to an alt code which shows up as a
blank space. It shows up as this without parenthesis.( ) Now that I've
done that I can't move the file to anywhere, rename it, and I can't
delete too. I right click it and hit delete but no confirmation comes up
asking if I want to or not. No message saying it's in use or anything.
If I try to rename it it reverts back to the invisible characters. I
also can't move the file to anywhere else from my desktop. I've been
trying for awhile now can't do anything with it

I had a similar problem not being able to delete a file. Turns out the
problem was the file ended in a space. I found this out by doing dir
filename and hitting tab to autocomplete the filename. This showed me
"filename ". I couldn't rename, delete or move the file. Basically all
the windows commands both from the gui and from cmd.exe were unable to
access the file.

I tried unlocker but being that I was running vista x64 it didn't work.
Apparently that program doesn't work on a 64 bit OS.

Finally I remembered that windows used to have a short name
representation of names that was based on the 8.3 scheme. I did some
checking and found that dir /x would show these short names. This shows
the files as filxxx.xxx. I was then able to do rd on the folder name
displayed and this deleted my folder.

Another way to do this is (if you have WinRAR is) to right click the
folder and click "add to archive..." then when the winrar window pops
up, to make sure "delete files after archiving" is checked off. Then
click OK. Your folder should be gone, and the archive should be there
instead -- simply click the archive and delete it.

I have Vista x64 and it worked perfectly fine.

Hope this helps people!
