Toshiba disk drive problem

Hi guys
the disk drive is detected in Device Manager, but the driver is either corrupt or missing. we have installed the driver several times but to no avail, we think the "driver" is not actually the driver, but software.

The Laptop is a Toshiba A200. The disk never worked.

ANy help of insight would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried getting the driver from here.

The drive you mention is a common one frequently used in prebuilt machines. I have two machines with this brand drive, both running Vista, both working fine -- which leads me to suspect this is a hardware issue with your drive.

So, if it "never worked", as you said, why didn't you take/send it back to the seller and demand they fix it or return your money?
