Can some one shade some light on why the computer reboots after a while
without any notice. This evening, I had my accounting software running which
I minimized. I went out for a couple of hours and found out that my computer
had reboot automatically as the minimized program was no longer in the task
bar. I am running Norton Internet Security 2009, and Iolo's system mechanics
9.0. Only Norton is active. The other one I run it as I like. I also scan my
system with Malwarebytes frequently. Malwarebytes always finds two
infections which are "Broken Open Command - notebook bad (%1) good (%1).
Even after it is cleared, it comes back.
Here, I have tried to convey as much information as possible. My operating
system is Vista Home Premium 32bt.

That is a symptom of overheating hardware.

I have been told many times here by the "non-idiots" that this is a
personal problem.

I don't understand all about personal problem and non idiots. Why are these
terms used and what connection with my problem. Apart from the first
response, all other responses do not make any sense to me.
I would appreciate appropriate answer to my problem.

Most likely hardware issue. Check for dust on fans especially on the Power Supply
and the CPU

I called Dell Hardware support and they put my system to test. The tech took
me into set CMOS screen and left it on for 2 hours. Nothing happened. So she
said that if there was a hardware problem, it would have rebooted. I
questioned her that it was only power supply that was on and she said that
besides the hard drive the whole system was running. Therefore it is not a
hardware problem. She directed me to paid software support. I described the
problem to him. I also told him that in the past few days I have experience
the following errors:
1. Driver Power Failure Error 9F
2. Login process failed to create the security option dialogue - FAILURE
SECURITY OPTIONS
3. Exception error: windows slide show failed to load in the memory (
slide show id screen saver)
His immediate response was to have reformat and reinstall windows as there
were multiple errors. I did not agree with him since I have a lot of
programs loaded and to reload all would take me weeks. In my opinion, he
should have tackled one error at a time to resolve the issue; after all it
was a paid support. All you know one problem could generate all these
errors.
