Type msconfig in Start's Search box and disable it on the Startup tab.

When you boot up next, don't cancel it and write down or remember the
process name, might prove helpful

Go to start search > msconfig > hit enter > accept the UAC > go over to
the 'start up' tab > look for anything that says Sony Viao Start up
assistant.

Autoruns from Sysinternals will show you what is being loaded when Windows starts.
Download it from here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb963902.aspx

It doesn't need installing, just unzip and run the autoruns.exe file from the folder.
Right-click and run as admin.
Agree to the license and it will scan your computer listing everything, including loads of Microsoft entries.
Click on Options and select ' Hide Microsoft and Windows Entries '.
Click on the green arrows icon to refresh the list.
Now look down the list and see if you can recognise anything relating to Sony.
Clear the box to disable or right-click to delete any entries.

It has to be in msconfig as that will show any and all programs set to
run at start-up.

Either download the sysinternals program suggested earlier or, if that
seems intimidating, download this:

http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

RUn the .exe that you download. It will install an icon in your
Control Panel. They just go to the Control Panel and double-click
"Start up". It will show you everything that is starting up. You can
disable items without deleting them to test without any real danger to
your system.

Start up MSCONFIG and select Startup tab and disable it.

I'm not sure what it goes by, though.

If you need further help, make a list of the programs listed in Startup tab
and post it.
