software before knowing if i had any emails? cant i set to run in the
backround without me having to open software to see if i have new mail?
it seems once i close windows mail i no longer receive new email sounds,
thanks in advance.

Akin to asking the postman to sneak up to your door, deliver the mail, and
then shout through the letter box, you have new mail.

Why would you want that particular option?

I don't have any problem with leaving the email program running whenever
my computer is on. I don't really understand why some people object
to that solution. It uses very little of the computer's resources.
