Hi all,

i am trying to open a file "Thumbs.db" that originated in a Win XP
system and when i try to open it is says
YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO OPEN A FILE OF TYPE 'DATA BASE FILE' (.DB)

It has picture (probably .jpg) files in it.

Can anyone suggest ways to open this file in a *Windows Vista *system?

That's an index file only. It won't have any pictures in it. Look at the
size of the file.

Yes Gordon,
There were thumbnails of the (accidentally deleted) pictures contained
in a folder on the Win XP based machine and all i wanted is to view the
thumbnails and see which files actually went missing.

The ThumbViewer tool helped me get what i want.
