Can't answer your question exactly, but I have Office 2000 and it works fine
with Vista.

Office 2003 is fully compatible with Vista. Check your version status
(In Outlook or Word go to Help, About...) and make sure it says SP3.

Bob i am using office 2k sp3 with vista but am having trouble with outlook.
All other components seem unaffected. I am using windows mail for now but
its a poor shadow. Did you install as is or use compatibility ( or other
means)?

TIA

I did the complete install. Come to think of it, I don't think that I've
used Outlook on this machine.
Word, Excel, and Access have given me no problems, and the very little I've
used Power Point and Front Page worked OK.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks for replying anyway. I will re-install outlook and try again might
have to be after xmas. To be honest I'm still dithering about whether to go
to XPpro on this laptop. Vista has some nice utilities the reliability
feature for one, but theyve taken away a lot of the configurability and I'm
missing the good bits of xp. I suppose upgrading to the latest office is one
answer but I cant really justify the expense.

Vista: A lot of features you are used to in XP are not gone from
Vista, just hiding from you. I recommend getting at least on Vista
book to find out where to find them. Your local library probably has
several. Some of the tweaks we all did in XP are really not needed
any more.

Office 2003: Office 2003 works fine on Vista as long as you do NOT
install SP3. SP3 kills almost all of the Office products in one way
or another.

Google for

problems "office 2003" (sp3 OR "service pack 3")

and you will see what I mean. If you DO install SP3, it's recommended
that you uninstall Office 2003, reinstall it, and then install SP2 and
wait for Microsoft to fix all the problems they caused with SP3.

Office 2007 is a completely different animal. If you have lots of
time on your hands, you can learn to use it. It seems to be designed
for newbie users at the expense of those who have used Office for
many, many years.

Finally, be careful before you change your operating system on a
laptop. You may get into a real mess and wish you had a time machine
so you could reconsider your decision.

Best of luck.
Duane

I'm using 2000 not 2003. I just cant justify the cost of upgrading as I
dont really use it to the full. Thanks for your suggestion - I hadnt thought
of going thr book route.
