Not sure where to post this, but my question is how can I send a message to
popup in another's user's computer in the same domain? I tried: msg user
message, it works if I send it to myself, but doesn't work sending to others
in the network.

Thank you.
NL

I think you have to specify the computer name as well...
msg /server:userpcname username "test message"

Hi
Search the download sites there many free utilities that does it for you.
Usually it referred to as LAN Send.
However if it is a business Network you have to ask for permission, and make
sure that the service is Not Blocked.

MS is saying use Windows (instant) Messenger, instead.

You need to have Messenger and Alerter service running on XP, not sure about
Vista. Vista with SP2 doesn't even install MSG.EXE. I don't know about
earlier versions.

I can see how it would be useful though. If you have some kind of failure
or event and you have an app that can run a command line. MSG.EXE
configured to send a message to where ever you are logged in.

Technically though, server monitoring apps should probably have that ability
built in.
