Does your connection to the server now go through equipment belonging
to an internet provider other than sympatico.ca? If so, connections to
port 25 are often blocked to cause trouble for spammers.

What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of the common ones,
such as Norton, McAfee, and Trend cause various problems with Windows
Mail.

I take it that Sympatico is your home ISP. Were you sending
from home when you got that error message?

Also, are you sure Sympatico requires the SSL option to be
enabled? That is unusual with port 25.

1. Uncheck the SSL option.

2. Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.
