How do you tell Windows Mail to use the proper English dictionary like it
did in XP. Not only does it not have correct English spelling, it does not
have all our country town names in like it does when it uses Office spelling
dictionary. I have everything set possible to English Australia etc. etc.
The language drop down dialogue box in Windows Mail under Options only says
English - not English Canada, English UK, English Australia etc. etc.
Please don't tell me this heap of garbage Windows Mail in Vista cannot do a
basic job and spell correctly.

It spells correctly in four languages, but the only English is the
US version. I guess MS didn't have time to develop more spell
check language options before Vista was released.

OE in Windows XP used the dictionaries provided by Office.
Regrettably, Windows Mail can't use the Office dictionaries.

So then, how does one obtain/install more dictionaries for Windows
Mail? Regardless of "time to develop more spell check language
options", surely the less-than-basic set of dictionaries isn't
*hard-coded*?

Moreover, by labelling it as simply "English", not "English (US)" or
similar, M$ seems to be pretending it really is what we speak in
England. Or is there some other excuse for this silly labelling?

So far neither Microsoft nor any third party has come out with
more dictionaries for Windows Mail. You would think that if
the demand was great enough, some enterprising young
entrepreneur would be selling them for say $14.95 each.

Next question: Are you sure they've actually released the specs of the
dictionary format and installation procedure?

Moreover, does anybody have idea what prevented the use of the Office
dictionaries, at least the content if not the format?

The usual dire answer is add the correct spelling to custom dictionary,
that answer would be ok if it was a few words and you could get rid of
the misspellings. Bit like a car manufacture telling you its new car
has pants brakes and a fix is to put your arm out the window so the wind
resistance will slow you and then trying to tell you that it will save
your tyre wear!
The other reply is live with it but why should I, this is the language
I use and I’d rather not look like an illiterate 5 year old to my peers.
I’m sure the US would be p1ssed off if they were forced to use UK
English.
About time Microsoft got their collective fingers out and provided a
simple fix, until then I’ll be typing up in Word and copying into
windows fail mail
Funny they never mention vista is going to kill my productivity.

It's damned arrogant of Microsoft, to be honest.

*UK* English please - and be quick about it....

I may well try Thunderbird one day. Bizarre that a UK Eng version
doesn't ship with WM!
