When composing or forwarding a message, when I type in name it does not
automatically enter email address, is this a change from old address book or
do I need to check something to make it work.

It just doesn't work properly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I think it's turned on by default, but look here..
Tools - Options - Send -
[x] Automatically complete e-mail addresses when composing
ok

I recommend using the newer Windows Live Mail, which was updated this week.

There's an option to make it remember the last 29 addresses you sent
email to and complete addresses that are one of these 29.

To activate it, click on Tools, then Options, then Send. If there's no
check mark in the box before Automatically complete e-mail addresses
when composing, click on this box and then Apply. Click on OK.

If this isn't enough for your needs, download and install the Windows
Live Mail program when someone tells you where to find it. It's
better at completing email addresses.

The solution Dave posted was for Windows Mail.
In Windows Live Mail, the auto-complete function is always active,
so there's no setting for it.
