The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'just want to make sure it's
working', Account: 'pop.secureserver.net', Server:
'smtpout.secureserver.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I followed the Godaddy.com instructions to a tee..and this does not work on
my windows mail at home or my outlook express at work. My provider at home
is ATT Uverse.

Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then change port 25 to port 80. Click OK. Try sending.=20

Thanks..but now I get:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was ''. Subject 'just want to
make sure it's working', Account: 'pop.secureserver.net', Server:
'smtpout.secureserver.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 Sorry, that
domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts.', Port: 80, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

NEVER MIND

Thanks so much, Gary. Apparently my server required authentication and I
didn't have that checked. I did need to switch to "80" as well.

I'm having the same problem on 64-bit Vista using Windows Mail. Yesterday,
email send/receive was working fine, today neither works. I'm using
ATT/Bellsouth and getting Server Connection Dropped or somesuch. Funny
thing is, my old XP machine with Outlook Express is working fine, using the
same email Account Setting as in the Windows Mail account. Screwy. Good
thing I didn't trash the old machine when I switched to the new machine and
Vista. Port setting I'm using (with authentication) are 465 outbound SMTP
and 995 inbound POP3.

Anyone else having problems with 64-bit Vista?

my 32-bit vista business is having the same problem, just today.....I
switched from the 465 port to 80 port as Gary suggested and so far that seems
to have fixed it....

Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply =
here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.=20

Good to hear it is working.=20
However, port 80 is actually quite rare for use with an SMTP server.
The only popular server I know of that uses it is =
smtpout.secureserver.net.
