Hi, i am very frustrating when i use windows mail.

Whenever i create a new email by click "To" to open up my address book for
selecting any email address, or when i use "reply all" and want to add in
some more email address from the address book, the computer start to run and
till it stuck, so the only choice for me is to end this task and type email
address instead of selecting email address from address book.

i thought that this is because i got too many email address, thus i deleted
most of it and now only got 700 email address inside my address book, i just
can not understand that when outlook express can take more than 3000 email
address book, but windows mail can not take about 700 email address book. And
somemore, this email address book is just useless for me, because whenever i
want to use the address book, the windows mail is going to hang... and the
only choice is to go to task manager, end this task and restart my windows
mail.

pls help!!!

What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of them tend to cause an
assortment of problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

You might check if that program has an option to turn off email scanning,
and if so, leave it turned off. It isn't clear how much Symantec copied
from their Norton line of antivirus programs to that program, but most
versions of the Norton antivirus programs tended to cause assorted
problems in Windows Mail, and have to be uninstalled, not just disabled,
to stop them from causing such problems. The uninstall often leaves
enough behind that you then need to run this cleanup program:

<http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039>

You may then need to remove your email account from Windows Mail,
then restart Windows Mail and add the account again.

If you want to see Symantec, the originators of email scanning, admit that
email scanning is redundant, see here:

<http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/d4578f66d8f00a0188256d4e006aaa94/4ba5fc8ef939c44c88256c7500723cf0?OpenDocument&src= bar_sch_nam>

It only allows you to find the viruses a little sooner, before they escape
from the email, after which any decent antivirus program should be able
to find them.

Viruses still in the email don't cause problems in Vista.

In addition to the Symantec link Robert gave you, read this:

Hi, Gary and Robert,

As per your advice, i have turned off email scanning.

However, the previous main problem still comes -- I still can not select the
email address from my address book.

Need your advice to solve the problem.

Look forward to your reply.

Tracy

At this point you have two choices left.
1. Uninstall your antivirus, reboot, then see if there is improvement.
or
2. Upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

The contacts folder (address book) sometimes gets changed to another
type of folder, in which case some operations for the contacts stop
working. If this happens, start Windows Mail, then click Tools, then
Windows Contacts, then right click in the empty space under the
right end of the Contacts window toolbar, then click on Customize
This Folder, then the triangle, then Contacts, then Apply, then OK,
then close the Contacts window, then restart Windows Mail.
