| My daughter's laptop came installed with Vista home basic & IE7. Web surfing & downloading is as fast as expected but typing a web address in the address bar or in a search engine (ie google) is delayed and sluggish. One character is displayed about every 2 seconds or nothing is displayed for about 20 seconds and then all of the address or search info is displayed all at once. We have tried WIFI & land lines on multiple networks that have proven their ability on other computers. I have tried turning off all add-ons, deleting temp internet files & cookies, defragging the hard drive, performing a full up-to-date Norton scan (no viruses found), and downloading all available/applicable updates. Nothing has helped. Is this a known issue with an easy remedy that I've overlooked? I've spent hours searching the web (on a fully functional XP IE6 laptop) for an answer and have only run across one other similar topic but it didn't award me with a resolution. Please help...she's driving me crazy wanting a fix. Thanks. Jerry |

| I've noticed that IE7 has become so slow on my machines as to be all but unusable. Try using firefox and see if the machine exhibits the same problems. Firefox has an IE plugin that allows you to launch IE -- on the rare occasions that you really need IE.
