| | Hi, I disabled the automatic 'Vista Update' a couple of days ago & decided yesterday to download & install the new Updates by simply clicking on the 'New Updates' icon on the toolbar. When i restarted the laptop, it started the Repair Utility toolkit & took me back to a previous Restore point !!! Can somebody advise !! Do I un-install the Antivirus & take it form there ? There seems to be some sort of O/S conflict ! The situation is quite pathetic !!! I thought Vista was better than XP in terms of performance, stability & security ?! I cant' even install any friggin' softwares !! Mave |

| I've never heard of a PC doing this -- automatically reloading from a Restore Point.
Reinstalling Vista is simply going to put you back to a clean machine, removing all the settings, files, and apps in the process.
If you have more than one restore point, restore to the newest.
You say you can't install any software but yet you provide no details. We're not mind readers! If you want help, quit whining and provide us something to work with.
