| I just bought a new HP in January.
Couldn't get connected to the internet. Heard this might be a Vista problem...
Finally got it connected (magically--not really sure what I did or what happened)....stayed on for quite a while (a few months).
Now, it goes on and off sparadically, and I'm not sure why. Right now, I am on my Dell which is wireless on a desk next to the HP w/vista.
This PC has XP on it.
I had connection until about 2 a.m. last night, and then, it went off. Sometimes, I can get it to "reboot" by unplugging and replugging the router, but I can't get that "fix" to work this morning. I've tried it over and over.
In a desperate attempt to find a solution, I stumbled across this website.
I see there is a pinned thread....I will try what I understand from that thread, but I don't really understand all the jargon on it.
Any ideas or help? This is so frustrating!!! |

| Unfortunately, internet connectivity dropping is not a simple problem to diagnose or fix --especially with Vista and the new features/settings MS introduced. Most often, the problems are caused by firewall settings in AV software and/or IPV6 settings. Our pinned posts discuss both of these.
If the HP has NEVER connected to the internet, then you need to contact HP. They sold you the machine; they're obligated to support it -- at least, to get the key features working.
