| bomber628 (1/31/2008) I'm a pickup truck type of guy, and I got my dream truck...a jet black 1992 Chevy C-1500 extended cab w/ an 8 ft bed. Why is this my dream truck you ask? Elementary my friends...no truck payments and easy to work on without having to leave it in the hands of unscrupulous auto mechanics. It's no race car but I'm sure you all took notice of the fact that I mentioned it is JET-black...yep, don't let the envy overwhelm ya too much, hehheh...
Hey man its all good. I respect people who still work on their own cars, its a rare thing these days. I think I am the only one in our neighborhood who has ever put a car on jacks.

| I don't have a car as I just have my permit (taking my road test this coming tuesday though) but I drive my mothers 07 GMC Envoy, my fathers company 07 Chevy Silverado crew cab, my mothers 97 Chrysler Sebring convertible, and other older Chevy pickups at work (I drive them around the property to move things, wash the trucks, or get to parts of the property that they don't want people walking to).

Holy moses! Jet black!?! I knew arrest-me red on my truck wasn't the way to go! LOL
I also work on mine instead of taking it to a shop. About the only things I don't delve into are complete rebuilds of the motor/tranny and I would do that as well if I had a secondary driver to use while the truck was down. |

| I've done everything from clutch swap (nightmare had to drop the trans 6 times), to head gasket...etc.. Racing at the track tends to break a lot of stuff so its definitely cheaper to work on it myself.
