It would be great news if the drivers were any good. I sampled several links to see just how current the drivers were. In all the cases, I was sadly disappointed.

The worst case was a C-Media AC'97 driver (for Vista). Expanding the file, it was dated 2003, and the INF files claimed it was for NT!! Going to the C-media site, I was easily able to find XP drivers -- and for several different sound chips. Also, the c-media site does NOT have any Vista drivers -- they didn't make them because they got bought out. The new "owner" site isn't distributing drivers, period. In addition, there are open source CMI audio chipset drivers that are much more current than the one in the link.

Another bad case was the ATI drivers link. It's to a beta RTM driver -- but ATI posted the actual release Catalyst 7.1 drivers days ago.

Also notice that their site says it's free -- for now. When I tried using their site several weeks ago, I couldn't download anything without paying a subscription fee. Imaging how ticked off I would be to have paid a fee only to learn that the so-called Vista drivers I had downloaded were NT, XP, or Beta.

So, be careful what you download from this site. Expand the file and check the INF file to determine if the driver is REALLY for Vista.

What these guys are doing is getting traffic to their website, then hopefully customers will click on the adwords ads and the owners of the site make a few bucks.
