I have a batch file I use habitually in both Vista and XP (dual-boot
recent Core-Duo machine) to mount ten network drives (VPN
connection). All ten mappings work fine in XP. In Vista, however,
two of the mappings always draw a "network path was not found" error.
The other eight, including three in the same subdomain as the two that
don't work, connect with no problem.

Why might Vista be choking on two specific net use commands that work
just fine from the same machine when running XP?

Does anyone have any ideas????

In most cases, the system error 53 is name resolution or firewall issue. Do
all 10 mappings connect to the same server?

Two servers in the same subdomain. I doubt name-resolution problems.
I can ping the host machines for the two folders that won't connect.

PS--one active firewall only, the one in my router--these mappings
work fine when I reboot to XP.

It could be the master browser issue. Check the status using browstat.exe.
