| | | | I have a new Gateway laptop that has a built in web cam. I used it once
successfully but now everytime I try it I get the message "locked by another
application" What does this mean? I've searched everywhere for information
on the Camera Assistant Software and cannot find any information on it!

Hi,
HP has a needed firmware update for those webcams on their support site.
Look up your model here:

This fixed it for me, even though it is says it is for a Sony web cam:

Not sure if this will help:- If you have messengerlive open it seems to
lock the web cam to that function. If you close messenger the web cam becomes
active:- yet another little pain from Vista. Bill if you read this - try
fixing the problem or at least letting people know about how to fix it.
