how do i regenerate this special folder?, i don't care about restoring the
contacts themselves.

Hello Guillermo,
If your lucky the folder may still be in the Recycle Bin, and you can
just restore it.
If not then restarting the computer a couple of time should restore the
folder for you by default. If not, then you can use the tutotial below
to restore it.

Shawn,
no, it's not on recyle, the folder isn't restored after restarts and the
tutorial didn't work. The folder is not "moved" or in other location, it
just vanished and it doesn't recreate or work at all :S
any other ideas?

What happens when you type "shell:Contacts" (no quotes) in the Start
Menu search box line, or in the RUN window, and press Enter? It's
suppose to open the default Contacts folder if available.
Also try opening a elevated (run as admministrator) command prompt, and
typing "attrib +r -h %USERPROFILE%\Contacts" (no quotes) to unhide the
folder in case it was hidden by mistake as well.
