About a week ago my trial sub to Tend Micro expired. I uninstalled
Trend (i have a full version Avast 4.8 home /license key) but
immediately started getting this error msg --Windows cannot access the
specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate
permission to access the item -- when trying to open any applications,
files/programs from desktop shortcuts. I also cannot open these
programs from their file locations or as administrator.
I'm running Vista Home Premium / Service Pack 2 / IE8 / 32 bit all
preinstalled on Dell Inspirion Laptop. This is a stand alone personal
computer, NOT shared or part of any network. I'AM THE
OWNER/ADMINISTRATOR.
I've already tried many of the "fixes" suggested in this forum such
as:
Uninstall/reinstall IE8
De-selecting IE Enhanced Security
"unblock" from the initial properties screen
from the exe file
modified the file ownership.
System restore did not work (
I am really leaning towards a registry item being deleted but have no
idea how to address that issue.
PLS HELP!!! thx

Hi Bob
Thanks for your response. I thought I had completely removed Trend
when I did the uninstall from control panel/programs. However when I
uninstalled using the TIStool.exe, apparently some Trend files/folders
were still on my computer. I completed the uninstall...but still have
the same problem.
Any more suggestions, pls reply!! thx

I would like to know that finally you have got the problem solved or
