| | I'm running Vista 64 bit with SP 1 on an Asus G51VX notebook. Suddenly today all my shortcuts disappeared. Those provide quick access to the applications and data folders that i use frequently (not just the standard Computer, Trash, etc.). My Desktop folders are intact. All shortcuts show up in them correctly. No files are set to "hidden". On reboot the shortcuts appear briefly (1 second) and then disappear. I've done a complete system scan (with Malwarebytes). One trojan download virus was detected and removed but problem still persists. Any ideas? Thanks,

| Removing a trojan does not repair the damage it may have done.
See the pinned post on repairing missing or damaged system files for additional repair steps you should take.
