First thing you will need is a Vista installation DVD -- because when you installed Vista, because XP was already in place, it installed the Vista boot loader files to the XP partition. So, when you remove XP, you will remove the Vista boot loader files as well. You will then need a Vista DVD to boot into it to do Startup Repair several times to force it to reinstall the boot loader files, this time, in the Vista partition.

If you have that, you should then be able to run the Disk Management utility inside Vista, select the XP partition, and delete it.

The problem is that i only have one partition, if i had both OS on different partitioning i would have formatted the hdd long time ago. But that is not the case.

You can only have one OS per partition. So, if you installed Vista into the same partition as XP, it replaced XP.

So, don't understand what you mean when you say you have two OS's.

Sorry, I'm still not clear about your situation ...

Did you originally have XP, and then upgrade to Vista?

So now, when you boot your machine, are you getting an OS selection menu?

If so, what OS's are listed -- XP and Vista? Or just Vista?

OK, since you're running Vista, go the NeoSmart Technology forums website and download EasyBCD. they have tutorials on how to use that, but essentially, it will allow you to modify the Vista boot loader menu using an application. It will provide an easy and simple method of removing the BCD entry for Windows XP.
