Hello,

Sorry for posting this in the Vista group, but there are no Windows 7
groups.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.

When I try to access my DVDRW drive, my PC crashes. In the Event viewer I
see messages like these:

Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
Date: 11/2/2009 9:21:38 PM
Event ID: 41
Task Category: (63)
Level: Critical
Keywords: (2)
User: SYSTEM
Computer: PETER
Description:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error
could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power
unexpectedly.

Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-WER-SystemErrorReporting
Date: 11/2/2009 9:21:53 PM
Event ID: 1001
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: PETER
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000022
(0x002400d2, 0xb5f174b8, 0xb5f17090, 0x00000000).

I'd searched Google and saw that many people have similar crashes, but I
couldn't find any related to the DVDRW drives. Plus, I couldn't find any
solutions either.

I thought this might be a drivers conflict, but I have no idea what it is
and how to fix it. I'd also upgraded the firmware for my drive to the latest
version, but this didn't help.

I would appreciate any advice on this. The full logs are below.

Thank you,

Peter

Have you tried right clicking without a disk in the drive. The bug check
means something is wrong with the file system.
Bug Check 0x22: FILE_SYSTEM
The FILE_SYSTEM bug check has a value of 0x00000022.

This bug check appears very infrequently.

In Control Panel choose Problem Reports and Solutions (type problem in
Start's searchbox), go to Problem History, right click your error and choose
Check For Solution. You can also examine the details.

In Administrative Tools choose Reliability and Performance Monitor and
choose MonitoringTools then Reliability Monitor (type Reliability in search
on Start) . This list is a chart of software installs, uninstalls, Windows
updates, and crashes by date. See if your crashes started happening after
you installed or uninstalled something.

090,

Microsoft has decided to not give Usenet newsgroups for Windows 7.

Thank you.

Yes, I could right-click the drive without disk - no problem.

I couldn't find anything new there. Posted message in Microsoft forum,
hopefully someone from Microsoft would be able to help with the solution.

Yes, the error is related to the File System, not sure what this means and
how to deal with it.

Does it crash on all disks or some?
