Hi everybody,

I installed Windows 7 a few days ago. Eveything seems OK except for Windows
Media Player V 12, which doesn't seem to be able to play mpeg files.

is it "normal" ? Should WMP normally play such files? Should I download some
kind of extra plug-in? If so, is there any free plug-in available?

many thks in advance for your kind help.

with best regards,

Daniel

Not really, is there an error message you could Google ?
Does Media Center play them - right-click the file, open with Media Center.

As a test, try to play your files with VLC ( 'Download VLC Media Player
1.0.3 RC1 - FileHippo.com' (http://filehippo.com/download_vlc/) ). Maybe
something is wrong with the files. VLC should play them 100%.

Hi Whs,

many thanks for your message.

I installed VLC as you suggested, and indeed, VLC plays all my .mpeg video
files.

Again, my files cannot be read neither with Win Media Player nor Media
Center.

does it mean there is something wrong with Windows Media Player on my PC ?

thks again,
Brds
Daniel

Obviously. Do you get an error message when you try to play a file?
If you do what does it say ?

Have you looked under Tools/options/filetypes
to see if .mpeg is checked??

Hi Peter

Thank you for your message.

However, in windows Media player 12, I do not have thisTools/options/
filetypes option.
Does it exist in the V12 version?

brgds,
Daniel
