| | Hi there, I'm working from the faulty machine in the 64 bit IE which works fine. Starting on 9/8/09: First - Network problem prevented internet access. I used "Diagnose" and "Repair". Repair found something and "fixed" it. Internet accessed after that.
Even Log: Code: Problem signatureProblem Event Name:NetworkDiagnosticsFrameworkV2Vendor:MicrosoftOwnerHC:WinInetHelperClassOwnerHCVersion:1.0SessionStatus:2HRESULT:8008F906Repair:{30B6B189-CCE3-4b6f-877B-C1AE960CE1EF}RootCauseHC:WinsockRootCauseHCVersion:1.0RootCause:{D438FDF3-F143-430e-B187-E02B2E14B641}OS Version:6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3Locale ID:1033Files that help describe the problemeventlog.etl Second - Firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) will load, but will not search for page. Page viewing area remains blank and page status says "Done". I uninstalled and reinstalled without deleting user settings. This did not repair Firefox.
Third - Outlook 2007 Trial Version (12.0.6504.5000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6425.1000) - Will not login to server. Error message reads "Receiving reported error (0x80040900). The server name you entered cannot be found on the network. (it might be down temporarily) Verify that you are online and that the server name is correct.
There is no event log associated with the Outlook problem.
Event logged from same day, but I'm unaware of how this fits:

Tried to update open office, but could not connect to server. OO also will not save work.
Although I was not online, Firefox did start and searched for "home" in Safe Mode.
AVG has not been able to update since 9/14. ***** I hope I've included all pertinent info. Thanks in advance!
Thanks,
