| | | | I downloaded the full update from Microsoft this morning. Though I've been
pretty good about installing hot patches and updates as they became
available, the SP1 install took nearly an hour. The process was troublefree
and completely automatic, but it involved several reboots and took quite
awhile. Be sure to allocate sufficient time to install this update.

Downloading it now...any prompts to click through after the first few, or
can you leave it be for an hour to sort itself out?

No surprise it took an hour...after all it told me it would take that
long during installation.
No troubles here as well.........installed just fine with no dirver
issues.

Nope. As I recall, there was an option to allow it to reboot automatically.
I selected that, let it run by itself and, after an hour or so, was back to
the log-in screen. One idiosyncracy: it reports on the percentage of update
performed, and divides it into three stages. It cycles through Stage 1, 2
and 3, rebooted, and then reported it was in Stage 1 again. Once it cycled
through that, and Stage 2 and 3, it rebooted to the log-on screen, and then,
after loggin on, reported that the update installed correctly.
I haven't tried very much but, so far, everything's working great.

You can leave it for the hour to download, but you will be prompted to
restart your PC to allow SP1 to install correctly. This also can take a
while depending upon how much has to be updated.

None at all - takes a long time I have to agree - far quicker if you had the
slipstream version like I used the other week for a review...shame they
don't release that on the internet for all Windows Vista owners.

Hi!

14h45 Download finished : 57 KBytes/sec
14h45 Installation : begin
14h48 BSOD : asking to remove anti-virus; so, I disable Onecare anti-virus
and firewall
15h00 Windows update : install SP1. (fortunately, no need to download
again)
15h30 Installation succeeded : SP1 is running
15h31 Enable Onecare anti-virus and firewall
Bye!
