the only way i can get the login page to come up is to type the address into google and load the cached page, then i can login - if i just type the address in the address bar it wont load the page, just times out. once im logged in i can write and send emails as normal, but i cant attach any files, it just wont upload at all.  as i said i have access to another computer running xp so i can still get it to work if needs be i just dont understand it.

Try erasing all your downloaded temp files and cookies in IE, and reseting all the settings. Tools -> Internet Options.
