I am running vista beta 2 x64, I used the driver for windows xp pro x64 and ran the setup and it worked perfect. I Know some people have asked about this same driver, I got mine from the site below, they have them for onboard and pci. Just look around and match it w/ what version of vista you have like x86 or x64 and download the xp driver. Run the setup.exe after extracting.

AMD64 X2 5200+ 2.60GHz | 3GB DDR 667 | RAID 0 SATA3.0 WD Caviars 320GB total | Foxconn MCP61VM2MA-RS2H Geforce 6100 nforce400 chipset | Vista Ultimate x86

vista error: this driver is not disained for windows vista....

---

anyways..

op sys vista beta 2 (x32) build 5384. 504M RAM. 1.73GHz, 798MHz. the deal is simpel. impossible to install realtek HD driver on vista.

what have i allready tried:
[1] windows update - selected realtek & installed.

[2] attempts of installing drivers via realtek.com.tw/
* ALC880(D) Vista x86 Beta Driver @ ftp://152.104.238.194/pc/hda/alc880d/Vista_5265.zip
* ALC650 Vista Beta Driver @ftp://152.104.238.194/pc/ac97/alc650/6111_Vista_Beta1.zip

[3] Realtek ALC882 HD Audio Codecs R1.40 @ftp://202.65.194.18/pc/hda/alc880d/WDM_R140.exe

non of these didn't change the status which is still "The audio service is not running".

if attemting to install driver manualy (add new hardware wiz) then syste crashes and sais ther is a problem in RealtekHD.sys (or smth) fail. system restores after removing the *.sys fail under "safe mode".

if i launge the realtek hd wizard via setup file then procces is canceled by the alert, that the microsoft bus driver must me loaded.

is there a solution for that?

Those drivers should work. Is your audio card integrated, sounds like a hardware problem. Try reinstalling vista.

realtek sound card is integrated and it worked fine on xp and on vista beta 1 (that i installed directly on xp).

beta2 was installed on beta1 and now there is no way how to make the realtek card to work. i even have the realtek soft working, directX is installed, but "audio service is not running".

Where are you seeing "audio service is not running?"

If you ctr-alt-del and go to your task manger and services, see if you can find the service named " AudioSrv" or "svchost.exe -k netsvcs" if its stopped, start it. If it says its running then stop and start it again.

it is visable when i move the mouse on the red 'x' just before the clock.

* i tired restarting the audio service (via task manager + run command "svchost.exe -k netsvcs") but i didn't not notice any difference. strange
