| I tried to install AVG's free edition (7.5) on Vista Home. After I installed it, I got this error message:
Extracting license_us.txt
Extracting avgsetup.exe
Extracting sporder.dll
Extracting afuinst64.dat
Extracting files.dat
CRC failed in files. Dat
Unexpected end of archive
What's the problem? How can I correct it? I want to use AVG on this laptop. |

| Those error messages indicate that the archive file is incomplete or corrupt. Either way, you'll need to download it again.

| I don't use AVG; I use NOD 32, so I'm not familiar with the file. What kind of file is the download -- .ZIP? or .EXE? I'm guessing the second because you didn't say anything about extracting the archive contents yourself.
If it's an .EXE, there's a possibility that your getting a permissions blockage that is producing a bogus archive corruption error. Next time you run it (the EXE), instead of double-clicking it, right-click and choose Run as Administrator. That will invoke the Trusted Installer process and will bypass any permissions problems.
