| You have a couple of options ...
1) If you have another PC, you can download , burn and boot from a CD that will allow you to blank your password. You need to Google for that and see what you can find.
2) If your machine provides it, there may be a way to press a function key on first boot and recover the initial Vista installation. This is typically F12 but it varies by machine. You need to look this up in the documentation that came with the laptop. Realize that will completely reformat your hard drive and reinstall Vista to the same state your machine was when you first unpacked it.

| Glad you figured it out ... but what I meant was the bootable CD's that allow you to blank your password. They don't crack it, or display it; they remove it. They do this through one variant or another of Linux, which doesn't boot using Windows and is not limited by any Windows-based passwords.

| Update -- for those interested.
I managed to get hold of ophcrack and tried it on two of my Vista machines.
I am pleased to report that it cracked NONE of my passwords!! That's right -- NONE.
So, those of you looking for a tool to crack Vista passwords will be sorely disappointed.
