| | Whenever I download a large installer, and it requires the UAC prompt, when I run it Vista takes 5 - 10 mins for the prompt to load. It doesn't happen with all installers, just ones over about 500MB. Any ideas how to speed this up without disabling UAC? |

| IF you're running Business or Ultimate, you could launch the Security Policy snap-in (secpol.msc) and experiment with the UAC settings at the bottom of the list. There's one that deals with UAC prompting when doing installations. You might be able to disable the prompting just for installs.
As to the delay, there's no setting for UAC delay time. UAC is triggered automatically when you try to install anything. The Trusted Installer has to scan the installation package to see if, for newer products, there are security directives embedded in the package. If there are, and depending on their settings, the UAC prompt might not appear, or it may appear and indicate that you don't have the permissions needed to do the installation.
It's most probably taking a while to scan 500MB packages.
