I'm currently having loads of problems with windows mail. I was having the
password problem that has appeared on the community many times, tried the
fixes posted but none worked (I stopped short of starting all over again).
The password problem has stopped, but I am now getting the error message

Account: 'pop3.blueyonder.co.uk', Server: 'pop3.blueyonder.co.uk',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC18

please be gentle, I'm not the most technically minded!

This may work, open OE > Tools > Accounts > highlight the account >
Properties > Servers Tab and remove the tick from ???Log on using secure???.???
and/or ???My server requires??????.

Check your email account settings. They should be as follows:

My incoming mail server is a: POP3 server.

Incoming mail (POP3): pop3.blueyonder.co.uk

Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.blueyonder.co.uk

Make sure to uncheck the box next to "My server requires authentication".

this has cured the error listed below, however the username and password
screen has re appeared, it won't accept my username and password (I have them
written down so I know I'm using the correct ones.

As I wrote before, you seem to be replying to a rather old message,
one written before the current fix for such problems became available:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

The Vista SP1 update is an alternate fix, but takes longer to install.

Windows Mail is unlikely to allow you to delete any of its default
folders, such as Deleted Items, even if it allows you to delete folders
you told it to add.

Oh well, it works for me and I am getting rid of the dreaded vista as soon as
possible so don't want any more "fixes" to add
thanks again
