Hey everyone,
Been reading this great resource of a forum for awhile but have not
been registered, until a few days ago when i started seeking solutions
to a problem i'm having with the installtion of my OS on my new system.
The problem: The installation just stops after loading all the Windows
files after booting from the DVD. Everything loads ok (seemingly) but
then there's just this blue/green screen and i get no further. Mouse is
movable however so it's not quite frozen either (confusing).
I have currently got an installation of XP Pro 32-bit running perfectly
and it has shows no problems with the hardware, which is as follows:
Intel Core 2 QUAD Q6600 2.4GHz 8MB FSB1066
Asus P5K/EPU iP35 4DDR2-DIMM 2PCI 4PCIe SATA Audio GB-LAN Firewire
Socket775 ATX
Antec NeoPower HE High Efficiency 500W PSU
Sparkle GeForce 8800GT 512MB
Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 4096MB (2x2048) CL5
Seagate Barracuda 300 GB SATA-300 (x2)
The full name of the new OS is Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
64-bit SWE OEM, which I got with the new pc i purchased.
BIOS has been upgraded to the latest version, I have tried with only
running 1 (one) memory module (2gb), but still this problem persists. I
have yet to try the Slipstream SP1 Tutorial that I've found on this
forum, as I still think it's a Vista vs hardware compatibility issue.
But any help or pointers would be fantastic, as it's a real bother that
I can't use this product I've paid for and which I was really excited
about.

64-bit OS supports 64-bit CPUs, check out whether your Intel Core is
64-bit CPU.

That usally means that vista is looking for something that is enabled in the
bios but can not communicate with it. Check all your drives and make sure
they are plugged in right and they have power to them.

It's most certainly a x64 processor, but it's solved now anyhow. Sorry
for bothering you all 
The problem was me being impatient! In a last desperate try i put on
the installation this morning and just let it sit there. After 1,5-2h
(could never ever imagine that before) next screen came up and then the
rest of the installation went on smoothly. Now all's up and running, had
no issues with anything except Panda 2008 that gave me a BSoD when
booting windows.
Have no complaints on Vista so far, hope it sticks to that

All Core 2 processors are 64bit. Only the Core processors are not.
64-bit OS supports 64-bit CPUs, check out whether your Intel Core is
64-bit CPU.
