| | hi guys.. hope anyone can help me... please... it happen after i installed new software/programme into my sony vaio.. i do know why.. it suddenly hang and need to power off my vaio without shut down. after that i restart my laptop and i have to choose between safe mode and normal mode. and i start with normal mode. when i log on with administartor, the desktop view now is blank. jus arrow cursor appear even the start button are not there ... all blank. so, i try to switch user by use the guest ... neway it working properly except the window explorer is not working. so, i restart again n use the safe mode to and try to restore use the system restore and choose the date before i installed the software. after that i try again to log on administrator.. thanks God the desktop come back! BUT somo programmes are not working.. why this happen? media player, controll panel, window explorer and raxio( burner media) are not working! what happen to my vaio? please anybody ....who can tell me what's going on... how to settle this .. please.. thanks |

| When you installed the software, did you right-click and select "Run as Administrator"? If not, try either uninstalling the software, or reinstalling using that selection.
SW apps left in an interim state can wreak havoc with the registry. Depending on what you installed, you will most probably have to go to each vendor's site and download a "clean" routine from them to wipe out all traces of their software.
Just so you know -- there is no generic fix to this problem. It has to be fixed on an application by application basis. Each one updates the registry and file type defaults separately; each one has to be repaired separately.
If you list the applications you had trouble with, we might be able to help.

| | i did uninstall for all new software , but some of the other programmes are not functioning. like internet explorer, it was install earlier, still not workir, or do i have to reinstall those programmes? but what is the curious is, all that programmes are working when we log on with guest, only for administrator have problem. do you have any suggestion to fix it? it give me an headache |

| As I said, there is no generic answer for all software. If you want help, you'll have to be specific. "New software" is too vague to be of any use.
