Vista logs events as it runs. If your system crashes (blue screen or otherwise), examining the Event Logs after reboot can provide some information on what's failing.

To get to the Event Logs,do the following:
1) Right-click My Computer, select Manage
2) In the left-most panel, expand the Event Viewer
3) Expand the Windows Logs "folder"
4) Click on the System icon -- the center panel will fill with log entries
5) Scroll through the entries, looking for Error entries
6) Click on an Error entry, bottom panel provides info.
7) If you then click the Details tab, it defaults to XML code. Change it to friendly view to see some details
