| Hi .
I have a user on Vista business workstation that accesses a shared folder ( as mapped drive ) on a Win 3k server.
That user can create and delete files and folders on the share but he can not rename them !
Every time he tries that he gets " You need permission to perform this action ".
He has admin user account on the local PC ( Vista ) and is listed as the owner of the share with full NTFS permissions on it including all subfolders and files.
Tried switching off and on UAC - no difference.
Assigned Full permissions to the OWNER RIGHTS account for the folder as described in New ACLs Improve Security in Windows Vista
Any ideas ? |

| There's a distinct possibility that the process is getting blocked on the 2K3 (not 3K) server end. With a shared folder on a server, I b elieve that all the local Vista machine is doing is sending messages to the Server. If the server denies the process because of permissions, that rejection will get sent back to the Vista box.
Since server-side permissions are complex, using security policies and group policies, you'll need to check with whomever administers the server to see what policies they have put in place.
