| I have recently got some bluetooth headphones, which are all working fine, and will play music from the PC. The only problem is that I would like to be able to play my guitar through the computer, and in order to do this, I have to un-mute the line-in. This is easy for my speakers that are connected to my SB Audigy, as I just go to properties-> Levels and unmute it. The problem is that when I do this on my headphones, the only level available is for volume, and there is no way of un-muting the line-in.
I have read around and it seems that it is possible to add the level in by going to the registry and adding a key called EnableInputMonitor. The only problem is I don't know where to put this key.
If anyone knows this, or any other way of enable the audio passthrough, I would be grateful.
Thanks |

| This may now follow step for step w/ Vista but I found this procedure online which seems to solve the exact problem you are having:
1) Press (WindowsKey)-R (to run a program)
2) Type "regedit", press enter, and then click "Continue" (depending on your security settings)
3) Go to Edit -> Find (or Ctrl-F)
4) Type "EnableInputMonitor" and click Find (or Find Next)
5) Double-click the EnableInputMonitor entry. It will come up as 0000 00. Change the 00 to 01 (so it's 0000 01). Do a Find Next just to make sure it's the only EnableInputMonitor registry setting on your system
6) Exit the Registry Editor and Restart the PC
7) Right-click the little Sigmatel Icon and select "Playback Devices"
8) Click "Speakers/Headphones" and then "Properties".
9) Under the "Levels" tab, there is now a new option called "Input Monitor", which is muted. Click the speaker to unmute to Input Monitor, and the Line-In port now functions as expected

| | It can't find anything called EnableInputMonitor in the registry. I'm wondering whether it is possible to create this key, I just don't know where. |

| This might get it working.
In regedit go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Now click on each key in the list until you find your sound card. (The right key for me was HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0014 I indentified it by seeing "Creative Audigy Processor" under "DriverDesc")
Then click go into the "Settings" key.
Then right click in an empty space in the window, Go to New>Key, name it Filter, Again New>key, call it SpeakerHp, then New>Binary Value, call it EnableInputMonitor and give it a value of 01.
Obviously if any of the keys already exist you dont need to create them. Reboot your computer and see if the line in function now has muteability.

| I have tried doing what you said for all the entries for sound blaster audigy, and for all the bluetooth audio device entries, but it still isn't giving me the option to un-mute the line-in. I do think though that were looking in the right place, and it's just a matter of putting the right key in one of the bluetooth audio device registry folders. I have tried putting the EnableInputMonitor key in all the root folders for each bluetooth audio device aswell, but that hasn't done the trick either.
Thanks for your help so far |

| What driver are you using for your sound blaster? I personally use this driver: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=Vista&thread.id=30403
Its more robust than the official drivers, works better too, and alows more options and compatability with vista. Note: it will not work on Audigy LS / SE / Value, Audigy 2 SE, Live! 24-bit.

| I'm using those drivers too, but after looking around the problem appears not to be with the drivers for my Audigy, but with the drivers for the bluetooth audio device (which are provided by the bluetooth software being used), as it is up to those drivers to say what is available in the headphone options. I'm currently experimenting with different bluetooth dongles to see which software provides the best headset support.
Thanks for all your help |
