I thought that too, however I also think it is very much a 'far cry' clone with nothing particularly original and I think COD4 has got it beaten hands down for not only visuals but gameplay and storyline, the Crysis ending NO SPOILERS is so just...........like is that it? but COD4 is just brilliant something totally unexpected, if it comes to a GOTY I cannot see Crysis being any higher than 2nd place.

I liked the graphical gizmos of Crysis but when it actualy got to the gameplay it was okay at best. Sure i like all the suit functions but i prefer having people around me....... No just enemies, some allies would be nice.

I absolutely hated Call of Duty 4, I saw nothing new in it whatsoever except the shooting through objects which was more annoying than strategic, and I felt like I was trudging through the same old tired gameplay the entire time, every level it's fight waves of enemies and move on, the gameplay didn't even feel very intense by comparison to Crysis, it "looked" intense but it didn't feel like it. I could essentially just sit in a corner the whole time and peek out and shoot repeatedly through most of the levels, which almost put me to sleep. Then I tried multiplayer which actually turned out to be really good. Where as Crysis I loved it the entire time, it may have been a far cry clone, but it offered a lot more new content for Far Cry, than Call of Duty 4 did for Call of Duty. Also I'd like to point out that Call of Duty 4 DOES NOT look better than Crysis at all. Call of Duty 4 looks good, but you can tell quite obviously it's just Call of Duty 2 with a new coat of paint. Crysis has huge environments and every little detail looks incredible. Call of Duty 4, everything is smooth and fake looking, Crysis has an extraordinary amount of detail, right down to the pores on their faces, the stitches in their uniforms.

Though I do admit the ending was awful, it just kind of abruptly cuts to the credits out of nowhere...

im sorry but a game is what u make it...
1]. if u sit in cod and peek out all day nipping at ur enemy i wont be any fun.
2]. yes, the attention to detail in crysis was amazing...as was that dam suit.

both games are fun, but both have their flaws, no sense in going to war over our individual preferences.
[the end of crysis gave me a migrane, and i was already suffering from the glitches]

1. I don't actually play like that...

But realistically you can't "make anything of it" the game is entirely linear and forces every player to play exactly the same way... The whole game is essentially a target practice simulator. Almost every level follows the same pattern, enter area, tons of targets spawn(enemies), shoot them all as fast as you can and run to the next point, rinse and repeat. Although I will admit Act II was somewhat fun, and I did enjoy the Sniper level quite a bit. Otherwise the rest was extremely shallow. Aside from the gameplay I enjoyed the story, theatrics, and the production values, but the gameplay was a step back from even previous Call of Duty games. The term "All Flash, no Substance" comes to mind.

I'm starting to notice a trend here, these days most gamers don't really want a game, with deep choices and interactivity, they want a flashy roller coaster ride that plays out like an interactive movie.

Crysis is a good game. I loved Far Cry, and Crysis just follows that tradition. But, it is more of a tech demo (similar to Doom3, among many others). It seems the engine and graphics were the highest priority and the actual game was second. It's not a bad game, but it could have been more.

The CoD series has atmosphere. It is just awesome. I haven't played CoD4 yet, but the rest of the series is amazing.
