I have a linux samba file server, 2 xp clients, and a vista client. Both xp
clients are able to transfer 50MB/s both ways to the server. Vista, however,
decides to be different by capping itself at 12MB/s no matter what I do.
Here's the following things I did so far:

- Removed remote differential compression (RDC)
- Installed Intel pci-e gigabit card and disabled onboard NIC
- Tried autotuning=normal and autotuning=disabled with no effect
- Transmit/receive buffers at 2048

The only thing left is to try and reinstall windows, unless anyone have some
ideas as to why Vista decided to put an invisible cap on my network?

P.S. There was a glimmer of hope for about 10 minutes after I removed RDC,
but when I rebooted it went back to 10MB/s

From doing a quick Google, it would appear it's a pretty common problem.
SP1 helps apparently. Might want to check out the following page:
