| I'm new to Vista Home premium OS and tried to install an update to Open Office from 2.2 to 2.3. I encountered error 1303, which suggested I did not have sufficient privileges to access directory
c:\Program files\OpenOffice.org.2.3\program\defaults\autoconfig.
and I needed to log on as an administrator or contact my system administrator.
I am logged in as administrator???
Help.
PS I tried to create a new administrator account and found that "administrator" already exists as a user. How can I access that account.

| When you installed it you had to create at least one admin account then, that's probably the one you are in now if its the only one you made the only other existing account will be 'guest' so you should be logged on as admin. To be practical I wouldn't take too much store by any error you get trying to install open office or any 'open' software, their messages don't comply with other OS error codes, chances are that's not the problem at all. Try running the setup routine using XP SP2 compatibility mode.

| | How to get into the hidden administrator account: Quote: WAW8 To login as the REAL Admin account, you have to unhide it first. You do that by opening Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Local Users and Groups --> Users --> Administrator.
On the Administrator Properties page, uncheck the "Account is disabled" box. Then, logout and back in. You will now see an icon for Administrator. Select that, and you can login as the REAL Admin.
