| Sorry to make my first post asking for help but I am desperate beyond reason now.
I am currently running Window's Vista Home and have been doing so for a few weeks now. Using the realtek HD drivers that came with my motherboard and headphones and everything was fine and dandy. So the other day I decide it would be a good time for me to finally bring my speakers upstairs and set them up...... and here is where the trouble starts.
I install the speakers, everything is fine and dandy and it works, later that night I decide to change back to headphones as too not wake everyone in the house.
Now here is the problem, I simply do not have audio anymore. At all.... I have uninstalled and reinstalled all relevant drivers that I could think of, audio jack seems intact and still detects when something is plugged into it though it does seem to think that my headphones are speakers now. I have gone as far as a system restore yet nothing
Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R
I have taken screenshots of everything I thought was relevant and would appreciate any help that anyone could offer.
Regards

| Nothing seemed to solve my problem so I gave up and went and bought a cheap sound card (Audigy 7.1 Value) Everything works perfectly and sounds fantastic, not bad for 58 bucks.
Just thought I'd let you know, not sure if it was a vista issue or whether my onboard sound was just screwed.
Regards

| Ugh - that is not good, I am having the same exact problem with the same motherboard.
Headphones work fine.
Realtek audio will work ok every once in a while on driver re-install, but dies or does not re-load after a power cycle.
Oh well, I may have to get a sound card too - yuck. |
