It IS kind of interesting however in that I have a Roswill mutlicard reader in my build below, and in addition to the stadard support for the SD/CF/MMC etc cards, it also has a standard usb port on the device that does NOT show an available drive letter until I actually plug a device into it. The others show the 4 available drives all the time.

RE: Removable drives listed in Windows Explorer

Thanks a lot! This answers my questions. The drives are the multicard readers. I did not have these in my old PC (never use them either) and did not think they would show up even if there is no card plugged in.

RE: Removable drives listed in Windows Explorer

Since you don't say anything about what your hardware configuration really is, its hard to give any advice. Does your computer have a built in multi-card reader for an SD/CF card and several others? Typically, these 4 removable drives will show up if you have one of the multi card devices installed. If you do, they are in fact USB and that would accout for the 4 mysterious removable drives showing up. If you do NOT have one of the multi-card readers installed, something is makeing the OS think that you do.

Give us your actual hardware configuration and maybe someone can actually help.

Removable drives listed in Windows Explorer

I have constantly 4 removable drives listed in Windows Explorer, although I have no USB or whatsoever plugged in. If I plug-in a USB stick a fifth drive appears which is the actual stick. How can I remove these 4 drives from the list? Thanks for any help!
