On my Vista PC I'm have to user accounts, mine and my partner's. I would like ALL data for my account/profile to run from the D drive and my partners to run from the T drive.
I tried moving my partner's profile using 'configure advanced user profile properties' and got the following 'Profile Error':

'Failed to set Security on the Destination Profile. Error - Access is denied'

I don't understand what this means. I tried setting all the permissions and turning UAC off but no luck. The drive I'm trying to move the data to is completely empty.

Would be very grateful for some help and guidance.

Thank you

Boot to incorrect Pssword/accout name screen

i recently created a guest and standard account on my PC runnign Vista Home Premium and added a password to my admin account. My problems started with the printer cannot print, but other functions like scanning, copying & faxing successfully done. I tried to print on the printer itself and ok, it successfully did the job. I call lexmark service centre and they asked me to uninstall the printer and reinstall the latest driver (vista compatible) but the problem still remained.

At one point, lexmark guy asked me to uninstall and delete all remaining related files. There is one file which cannot be deleted in c:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\lxctpswx.exe. "Destination folder access denied"...When tried to open the file "windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriated permissions to access the items". I'm the administrator and try to take ownership but failed...In properties/security/advanced/owner/current owner: unable to display current owner. i try to change ownership but Windows Security dialog box show "unable to set new owner on lxctpswx.exe. Access is denied. Retry or cancel."

So, anybody out there please helpppppppp me!!!

User Profile without internet & programs that auto start

Can someone point me in the direction to find out how to setup a new user where there is no internet connected or any anti-virus pgm's running. Vista Standard User accounts are giving me fits.

On my daughter's computer, I am set up with an admin account and my daughter is set up as a Standard User. I have problem running certain programs under my daughter's Standard Account, such as Incredimail and just playing DVDs. If I run IM, I get a message that IM is not fully installed and that I must reboot. I reboot and get the same message. I try to play a DVD and I get the message about adjusting the display resolution. However if I run these things with my admin account, they work fine.

Her computer was running XP and everything was fine. I switched to Vista to take advantage of the Parental Controls and started having these problems. If I change my daughter's account to an admin account, everything works again. I have another daughter running Vista (from the factory) and I'm having similar problems.

The only thing maybe unusual is that in both computers, my daughter's were originally the only account (admin of course) and then I added my admin account and changed theirs to Standard User accounts.

Anybody seen this before? I've googled but haven't found anything on it. Thanks.

Is there a way as an administrator in a domain to allow a standard user not to need credentials for only a few applications?

For banking applications most of them are still in the prehistoric days and will remaind that way for a long time. I am trying to find out a better way in vista to not have to change folder permissions to modify for various applications and files that that use. If I choose "run as an administrator" with the users logged on everything would work great. I was excited to see that under properties for an exe I can choose to set it to run as an administrator. I understand you need to be an administrator to check this box in the first place which would be enough security. I use this option for myself on some programs just so I don't forget to open it as an administrator since some apps need to always be run that way. The problem is if I check this box a standard user will still need to enter admin credentials but now it will prompt them. Obviously I don't want to provide a standard user with admin credentials but I would like this one or two programs to run in admin mode for them. I don't want to turn UAC off. I was just hopeing UAC would have been the answer to my prayers for these types of issues. I really don't like having to change local file and folder permissions for all the programs that have an issue. Some of thee programs install random files in many places. PLease help me. Am I just out of luck and need to do it the old fashion way or is there some new amazing way for me to do this?
