I've got the application from www.pathtoolong.com and it's removed the problem folder.

Crash after Picture Attachment

Vista Mail crashes and will not resume until a hardware reboot, when I attach a picture from "My Pictures" folder. It works OK with other attachments and also the same picture file from another folder. As soon as the picture is chosen from the "browse" function, Mail crashes.

recieving mail fine - sending mail gets error

ok. i am away from home and connected to my mom's wireless. i use vista home premium/windows mail. my home ip is comcast. while at my mom's i get all my incoming mail just fine off her wireless. when i try to send email however, i get this message:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'football teams', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

no email can be sent. i have tried everything ai can tghink of, except the suggestion i read here about changing the port from 25 to 5xx. i forget the number. i don't know how to do that. please help if possible. i will chleck back later.

No longer can send e-mails

I have been using Windows Vista for over a year now to send/receive e-mail messages. However, beginning today I can receive but no longer send. The error message I am receiving is shown below. Any help would be much appreciated!

windows mail locks up when print command is given

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop running Vista Home edition. I have an HP Photosmart C 4580 wireless printer. In Windows Mail, if I try to print out an email Windows Mail locks up and a reboot is necessary. Does anyone have a fix or any information on this problem please? Thanks to all who may answer.

Slow mail sending

Hi,

for quite a while now I am experiencing very slow mail uploads.

The progress bar window simply creeps and can take several minutes to send a mail of 3Mb size.

Sometimes I get the error message 'the SMPT server is not responding'

Sometimes I get the 'Wait' prompt for another 60 seconds worth of creep!

I am using VistaSP1 and IE8, swiching to Firefox does not help.

When I first starting using Vista, we imported emails from outlook express. However hardly any came through. So I entered the name, e-mail address. However when I tried to send email through xcel, I had to type in the actual email address not the receivers name. (Never had to do this with outlook express.) So I deleted all of them and entered them again. When I entered them the second time, they came up using receivers name, but it also includes the old name, address which won't go through. They come back to me. I tried holding the mouse on them in the send to:, and pressing delete as it says, but that does NOT work. How can I just delete them and start fresh so that they don't come up two or three at a time when I type the name in send to? I am so frustrated with the operation, I could scream. Please help me.

Getting Double Messages from Windows Mail User

Hello Group,

I have one customer who is using Windows Mail. Every email she sends me comes in twice. I am running XP Pro and use Incredimail. I have had her check to make sure I'm not in her address book twice and she says I'm not. No one else has reported to her that they are getting duplicate emails. This is not a biggie, but there should be a fix for this. Anybody have any ideas, I would certainly appreciate them.

Inbox files deleted

Just today, my have slipped a little and may have hit something, but to deleted all my inbox files would take more than one accidental button push. Also, a while later, I opened it again, and some mail came in, I read it, and closed out. When I came back on later, all the new files had disapeared. Virus? What can be causing this, it's brand new to me.

As Ive tried to set them up with windows mail I keep getting login failures and servers failures even when Ive followed instructions on how to do so

If anyone can help me out as to what the heck Im doing here ... lol Id really appreciate it

Maybe I can just make a new email and forward all my emails to it?

Setting up Windows mail

Hi everyone.

I've been trying to set up my windows mail account as I found that windows live is far diffrerent and I like how windows mail works.

I have email accounts with

yahoo
hotmail
live
gmail
operamail

those are the main ones that i usually check and i would love to have them all working on windows mail but i keep getting login failures then server failures, i am completely lost can anyone help me ?

maybe i can just make a new email and forward my emails to it?

I just set up Windows Mail and all of my emails from my school account have been transfered to Windows Mail and deleted from my school account. Does anyone know how I can transfer those emails back? I really need them on my school account.

Windows Mail Plugin not working ( blocked by Vista's DEP)

Hello Friends,

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate Edition and I am builing an c++ ATL DLL in Visual C++ 6.0, which is an addin DLL for Windows Mail.

When I run my Windows Mail, Vista's DEP (Data Execution Prevention) feature blocks it, and prompts that it blocked for security purpose as some other program tried to use windows mail data.

But I have to hook into Windows Mail as have to put an addin to customize its GUI.

I tried to turn DEP off for Windows Mail, but it didnt allow me (even in Full Admin Account).
Also I turned DEP off for my exe (which loads my addin DLL, which further hooks into Windows Mail), but despite that Windows Mail is blocked.

Also, when I build the project in Visual Studio 2005, it runs very well. (And I have not made any change in the project settings or code)

It seems, VC 6 uses older compilers and VS 2005 uses latest ones so are compatible with Vista!

But I have to use VC 6 only as it's my project's requirement!

Cannot send mail - no error message

I've had no problems with Windows mail until recently. When I choose send and receive it proceeds to receive mail but does not attempt to send. There is no error message that appears - it simply skips the step. I've checked my account settings and everything seems to be fine. It's been a few days of replying to emails before I realized nothing had actually been sent and is still sitting in my outbox.

Hi every one,

I recently got a bad virus and had to back up my entire C Drive to a removable drive.
I then reset my vista laptop to factory settings. The virus made it so that I couldn't actually use windows so I did all that by hitting f8 during boot up and it gave me the option of backing every thing up.

Can any one please tell me what I have to copy and where from my back up drive to my new fresh intall of vista to get my windows mail back to what it was before the wipe?

I would love rules, folders, mails, every thing back to how it was. is that posible??

would love any help posible

Error message from within Windows Mail

When I start Windows Mail, the program checks the pop3 server without problems and downloads whatever mail I have to the inbox. When I push the send/receive button once Windows Mail is running, I get a "Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below for more details" message. But there are no details in the box, it's empty.... ?

edit:

Strange, when I go into "Tools > Send and Receive" and hit either "Send all" or "Receive all", no problems. When I hit "Send and Receive all" problem occurs again... WTF?...:(

All files lost. Mail seems to have rebooted itself

All email files are gone. Windows Mail seems to have been deleted or something and now wants to start over.

Are there hidden and saved files somewhere. I don't mind restarting but can I get my inbox, sent folder files back, plus the contacts?
