I just want explorer to show the double clicked folder or drive in the same window, same as if I right click 'explore' on a folder item.

These are the things I've tried so far:

1) Control Panel -> Folder Options -> Open each folder in the same window
2) Uninstall all software installed in the last week (except nVidia driver and Internet Explorer 8 beta 2). Will uninstall these as soon as I can reboot.
3) Downloaded ShellExView (shexview) and disabled every explorer extension except 2 that are required to run explorer at all.
4) Ran Regedit and checked HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell for value other than 'none'
5) Run command regsvr32 /i shell32.dl to restore some shell default behavior
6) Regedit check HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder and copy all common values from another working Vista install.

Please help if you can. This takes up a lot of room. I always have to manually collapse it in order to see all the other files and drives easily. They used to be Large icons. Is there any way to set Large, or for that matter any other size, as the default for all files and folders? Also, if there is a way, can the current icons be reset to Large. I know that icons in individual folders can be changed.
