It is detected as Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. I have had this problem since the very beginning since installing Vista. I originally had Vista as the only OS and currently have it in a dual-boot configuration with XP Pro and have the same problem. Firewire works properly when booted into XP.
