I tried hertz but did help. This problem with new version of graphic controller driver is both in XP and VISTA. In XP one can change to older version if the new doesnt work but in Vista when I update the driver to the old version (WHich works fine) and reboots (Everything becomes normal) but as soon as the vista loads, it automatically loads its new or default drivers. How can I stop this process of vista so that old driver can stay their permanently or if I can stop vista not to load any of its driver to replace the old one on startup
RE: Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME graphic controller driver problem

Without wishing to sound to condescending have you tried adjusting the width on the monitor to suit the latest driver, I have no doubt there are other solutions to this problem but this seems the most likely, also try adjusting the refresh rate, depending on you monitor it can make the screen stretch if set wrongly for the resolution.

Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME graphic controller driver problem

I have Acer 1.6 GHz 512 mb 400 fsb ram with Intel 82852/82855 GM/ GME Chipset having Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphic Controller driver version which came along the laptop driver CD is 6.14.10.3691 (Intel Extreme Graphics), resolution 1024 x 768, 32 bit.

Problem is when I updated this driver with new 6.14.10.4655 (not sure about this last no. but it is the latest which comes with Intel Extreme Graphics2), my screen streches, I cannot see the status bar, like one can do with any monitor by streching its horizontal to full.

Yesterday I installed Vista, by default it has this updated/latest driver for Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphic controller, and gives me the same problem (SCREEN STRECHING). I tried updating the driver in Vista to the old one which works 6.14.10.3691, after reboot everything works fine but the problem is as soon as Vista loaded it automatically changes this driver to its default latest and asks for reboot and again the same problem of screen streched horizontally.

Please help me, I dont know what to do, if it is possible to permanently apply the old driver in vista. But the question remains why its streching when everything is the same except the updated version of the driver.

Please need expert's advise, I request all the experts to help me out.

Thanks
