Driver unable to load.....

Hi!

I have a system I built a few months ago, that worked fine until now. My Computer suddenly stopped seeing my Optiarc dvd-Rw (Sata) after installing Roxio 10. (could be a coincidence ) I uninstalled the drive and reinstalled it but I get a message that it was unable to load the drive , or the driver may be corrupted or missing.
THis is on Vista Home premium. I downloaded the driver to try it again and got the same result.
WHy?

I found out the hard way that if I update my video drivers via Micrsoft Update, my desktop completly dissapears on re-boot and I get a yellow screen. It's pretty bad when Microsofts own drivers don't work! I have found only 2 drivers that work AND give me video out. One is 165.25_omega_beta.exe a driver that was tweeked for gameing and 100.65.winvista_32bit_international.exe. 100.65 is the one I use most all the time now.

Hope this helps someone........or at least supplies a small grin.:)

ALPS Pointer Driver not working

When I boot up my computer, after about 10 mins. there is an error box that pops up and says, "Alps pointer driver has stopped working, please close program" After that, I can't scroll using the touchpad anymore. I just got this new laptop and I have never had any problems with my desktop that uses XP, but this vista is really starting to erk me. Can anyone help me with this???

I have just installed vista business and I have no sound. I have tried to reinstall the realtek drivers and I am being told that the drive may be corrupted or missing (code 39).

I have downloaded drivers R171 and R191from the Realtek website

Printer drivers driving me nuts!

Ok so im running vista home premium 32bit. When i first got it i bought a hp all in one c4180 printer. It installed fine and worked great. All of a sudden it stopped reading that device all together. Was unrecognized when i went into device manager. Tried installing it cant find the driver software. Cd gets denied. Downloaded it off line same story. Tried new cables same story. I then tried a crappy old dell printer. plugged it in it loaded its self worked fine!. Now went out and got a new canon mp210 scanner/printer and back to the same thing. It plugs in it reads the printer identifies it no problem. Put cd in and where it gets to the screen to auto detect the port it does not detect it. And i cant select usb port in the manual part. So i tired to download those drivers. And it wont find them. I tried all usb ports same thing. I also tried to uninstall all the drivers like in the pinned topic. Access was either denied or unable to. Please help

Hi there. I have decided to give up trying to figure this out by myself and ask the pros. It's done this with a lot of new programs or drivers I've tried to install... In this case its with my iPod I just bought. I plugged it in and it recognized there was something in the USB and asked to locate it blah blah blah and then the box pops up? Anyone help me out here?

I know nothing about how to fix this existing driver... Please Help!

WIDCOMM Bluetooth Drivers

Hello,

I didn't see any posts here on Bluetooth so here is my problem/resolution...

I have a Zonet Bluetooth V 2.0 dongle Supported with Broadcom WIDCOMM Drivers. My original install CD of course did not work with Vista.

I had it removed during my install of Vista RC1 and after getting up and running inserted it and Vista would recognize it as a USB Device but didn't have drivers for it.

When I would reboot my PC and load Vista it would lock up after the loading screen with the green bar... (XP still loaded fine)

There was even a time where if i inserted it while fulled booted in Vista it would lock my PC up solid and I would have to remove it and cold boot my PC.

To make a very, very long story short...after about 10 different versions of drivers, I finally found one that works...I don't remember where I found it but here is the filename...

Widcomm.32Bit.v5.0.1.2500.Incl.Lic.Patch.rar

I still have the file so if someone needs it send me an email or PM...

The site that I found it on also had the 64bit version...(don't have that one)

I also, after getting the drivers installed had problems with the license.dat file that WIDCOMM uses but that is what the patch is for ;) I now have approx. 2,000,000 days left in my evaluation copy of this software.

This was very frustrating, and took a few nights/mornings to fix so if anyone else is having problems let me know and maybe I can help...

Just got the Beta 2 downloaded, and it boots for install ok.
BuT it dose not see my raid 0 drives. I tried my XP driver, they do not work. and a long search on google gave little help.
Anyone out there know where I might find a driver for my Promise 20276 raid controller?

flash drive crashes Vista

I have a PNY Optima Pro Attache 2G flash drive, and when I plug it into my PC with Vista Home Premium, nothing happens. When I go to My Computer, its icon shows up, but when I try to open it or just click on it, Vista crashes ("not responding"). This drive is supposed to be compatible with Vista, so why is it crashing the system?

I know nothing about computers, so any help in layman's terms would be much appreciated.

all new parts ASUS P5B-MX MB , Intel core 2 duo e6300 1.86 ghz, 2 gb ddr2 800 Ram,

2 seagate hd, Radeon x1650 pro GC.

I can't get the Win vista to load on to my hard drives, its asking for drivers !?? I have worked with XP and never had this happen, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Logitech aren't releasing drivers for this old but excellent and popular product, the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX. Vista users are buying new desktop keyboard and mouse combos so that they have working features in Vista.

BUT you don't need to buy a new keyboard and mouse to use the Desktop MX with Vista and flip 3d.

All you need to do is install the drivers 'in XP compatibility mode'. Right click on the drivers, select the option for compatibility mode, and then run the install. Everything works fine.

The only thing is you won't have flip 3d available for your middle button. If you're willing to live without the 'acceleration' feature of the Logitech driver (which is not activated in games anyway if performance concerns you)...

simply download X-Mouse button control from highrez.co.uk, which is freeware, and very easy to use for flip 3d without affecting your other buttons etc.

Luckily, I found a driver for my printer at the official site of HP. But then, whenever I connect the printer to my computer (or even just turn it on), the driver would install. How can I solve this?

Every time I try to put my computer in sleep mode, or leave it long enough for it to try to do it on its own I get a message saying "The device driver for the 'IDE Channel' device is preventing the machine from entering hibernation. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update the driver." I went into Control Panel and tried to update drivers for all four IDE Channel devices listed, but they all said there were up to date. Don't know what to do now.

I'm really hoping that someone can help me out here, because I've been banging my head against the wall for 2 days now. I have a VisionTek Radeon x1550 AGPx8 video card that boasts that it is Windows Aero capable. However, when I use the issued cd that comes with the video card, my resolution cannot change from 720x480. I've been trying all of the drivers that come standard in Windows Vista and none of them seem to work either. If I fool around with it enough, I can manage to get the resolution I want (1440x900), but then I lose the Aero theme, because the driver that's installed isn't compatible with Aero. Does anyone have the same video card and have the same issues. Or better yet, does someone have a solution to the problem? Thank you so much for all your help in advance.

Lexmark Printer Drivers (X1150)

Does anyone know where to find the driver for a Lexmark 1150 for Vista? I'm currently running Vista x64 6.0 and cannot find drivers anywhere -- even though on the Lexmark site it states that they would be available December 2006.

Has anyone managed to get a Lexmark x1100 series printer to function under Vista? And if so, using what driver?

Hi,

I have problem with driver installations in Vista. Whenever I plug a new peripheral, even a generic device as an USB key, an USB mouse or a keyboard, Windows doesn't find the appropriate driver. Of course it has to search for it in Windows update, it NEVER finds it, and then it asks what to do.

At this step I choose to specify the driver's emplacement on the hard drive, I point to \Windows\System32, and finally the driver gets installed!!

Any idea?

Epson R2400 Driver...FireWire Problem

Hi There,
I have been using an Epson R2400 injet photo printer on my XP machine for about a year and a half. I just added an HP n8120M Quad running Vista Home Premium. I downloaded the new Epson Vista compatable driver and:

No communication at all
Uninstall after several attempts to troubleshoot
Install OLD software...USB worked, but no Firewire.
Unistalled OLD software
Reinstalled NEW software again...USB but no Firewire
Unistalled NEW software (to see if another reinstall might help)
Reinstalled NEW software...same thing...works fine but no Firewire communication.

Two questions:

Is this just something I should forget about and just use the USB connection. I thought that Firewire would be faster, but...I can live with USB
Are there any ramifications to the unistalls and reinstalls that I did today...do I need to "clean" anything up to avoid problems down the line (if so...how do I proceed)?

Hi,

I recently added a Seagate 750Gb hard drive to my Lenovo 3000 K100 PC. There seems to be a problem having it find a volume driver. I tried uninstalling and going through the process again with no luck. The search for the driver ends "device drive found but encountered a problem loading it" or something to that effect. A Vista update (Update for Windows Vista (KB940199)) says that it is not for my system. I found a hotfix (KB Article Number(s): 937187) that I tried but the problem remains.

I downloaded new chipset drivers and still no help. The hard drive drivers are fine.

One Vista article mentioned that the problem is a damaged or missing INFCACHE.1 file. Furthermore, if deleted Vista will not recover it.

Where do I go from here? I would appreciate any help. I'm beginning to hate Vista.

USB Peripherals

Whenever I plug in a new USB Drive (External HDD or Flash Stick), or any other basic USB peripheral, Vista can never find drivers for it - rather than being plug&play, I have to point the driver installer to my FileRepository folder.

How can I get Vista to automatically find the drivers?

If you're having problems with USB drivers in Vista, or if Vista is prompting you to install such drivers, this sometimes happens because the driver cache file gets corrupted. To remove it, do the following:
1) Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Windows\inf folder
2) Remove the INFCACHE1.inf file there
When you restart, Vista will rebuild the cache file and may prompt you for drivers to do that.

If that doesn't fix it, see the following MS link for some additional advice:

Wireless Card failure. Driver?

I bought a new Philips Wireless 'Streamium PC. I am running it through my HD TV at home. I have an existing wireless network through a BT HomeHub. All my other wireless devices (a couple of laptops and an Iphone) are running through it fine, but the new PC just will not. It has an intel ABG3945 wireless card. If I go into network center it shows the PC connecting to the HomeHub but the HomeHub not linking it top the Internet. Lengthy (and I mean LENGTHY!!) conversations with BT proved to be fruitless and frustrating, but as far as they are concerned it is a problem with Vista (I am running Home Premium 32-bit).

And while I am here... I am connected to the HDTV using an HDMI cable. I can get an awesome picture, but no sound, even when I change the playback device to the HDMI source. PC World elite top technical team think it is 'just a problem with Vista'.

Apologies if these are problems that are simply solved with one keystroke, but I admit to being a little stoopid when it comes to these sort of things. My thanks in advance for any assistance.

Synaptics Driver Issues

Hi I recently had my Windows Vista automatically updated from the patch and now my Synaptics driver does not work. The touchpad works perfectly fine but I can not use the extra features on it such as scrolling. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall the driver but all that happens is that Synaptics can not install it. Can anybody help me out with his issue?

Hiya, I just installed Vista and found that sound was not working. I have an Asus motherboard with onboard sound and even in xp I had to manually install the drivers so I went to the Realtek website and they had a vista version of the drivers. I installed that and now Realtek AC97 Audio is listed under device manager and it says it's working fine but I have NO SOUND. Also in the bottom right hand corner the little speaker icon has a red cross next to it, if I right click it and click playback devices it lists the device and says it's working fine but if i click on 'open volume mixer' it says 'no audio device is installed'.
Anyone got any ideas cus I'm giving it 1 day max then I'm going back to XP.

cd-rom driver keeps corrupting

hi - i've got a weird driver problem here and would really appreciate any suggestions.

okay, it's a new fairly high-spec dell machine running vista home premium 32 with a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653A cd/dvd drive, and every so often the cd-rom driver corrupts (shows a little yellow warning sign) and any discs put in dont spin or get read. i can only fix this by running a system restore back a few weeks.

the system resore fix makes me think something i've recently installed causes a conflict with the cd drive, but this is just a guess.

the only sofrware i regularly update and tweak is vista, windows live onecare (firewall and virus checker), logitech profiler (to configure my gamepad) and my digital tv software that uses a usb tv arial to get freeview tv (MobiDTV Pro from V-Gear).

could any of these interfere with my cd drive? if so how can i avoid this, or fix it without having to run a system restore.

this problem is driving me slowly insane, so i'd really appreciate any help.

Hey guys! I'm knew here my name is Melissa.

I was kinda ignoring this problem for awhile but I feel like trying to fix it. Ever since i reinstalled vista on my Gateway p-series laptop i have been getting an error message saying that it cant find this driver it is called " Modem Device on high definition audio bus". When i try to look for this driver i cant find it i guess my main problem is that i really don't understand what it is. In my device Manager it is under other Devices... if that helps any..

New USB card reader install calls for driver for some other device

I have been running an Acer 3680-2022 for almost a year. Shortly after buying it I upgraded the Vista Home Basic it came with to Vista Home Premium. This model has an integrated card reader which works fine. Also I use an external USB mouse and keyboard and they run fine.

I recently tried to install a Vista-compatible Sony MRW62E-S1 Multi-Card Reader/Writer but when I plug it in it mistakenly calls for a driver for a "Silicon Media R/W" device. I checked with Sony support and their card reader/writer should be identified in my system with a Sony device name, and they have no idea what this "Silicon Media" device refers to.

Note that I THINK that this is the name of a cheapo multi-card reader that I attempted to install several months ago but could not get to install (I do not even know if I still have that device else I would reference it in detail here).

I am wondering if perhaps that earlier attempt left some lingering incompatible driver hanging around in my system which now is preventing me from installing this new Sony reader. Also, I am unable to successfully interface with a new Ipod Touch.

My question is: short of reinstalling Vista how can I identify and remove whatever system file is calling for a "Silicon Media R/W" device when I plug in the new Sony driver? If I can clear that up I suspect that my Ipod Touch will connect successfully also.

Logitech LX710 Cordless Combo

Hi all,

I am using a Compaq laptop running Vista. I purchased the Logitech Combo LX710 and it came with no software as Vista "supports it". Unfortunately, the usual messages came up asking about locating software and always the result was a no go. Once, I canceled the requested installation (3 separate message appear in succession at each boot time) and IT WORKED FINE. I have now been doing this at each boot up for several months and am happy with the operation but the messages annoy me.

Today I selected "Don't ask about this device again" and it still didn't work and worse, I had to uninstall the device to get it going again. I figured it was time to find a real solution.

I have tried downloading the Logitech driver but that caused more problems.

Problem solved (for me)

A reply suggested installing the 4.4 driver. I searched for the driver with Google and found a discussion elsewhere in the Logitech forums (desktop/keyboards).

And one of the solutions worked for me. It was at the end of the discussion on page 2 and suggested telling Vista to search for a driver in C:\Windows\System32. I had previously seen a reference to this, but it suggested changing the register entry. I was too inexperienced to try that but it probably would have worked.

Vista overwriting my sound device driver???

At the moment i am using Vista Home Premium 64bit. The problem is though, that when i reboot my machine Windows decides to uninstall my sound driver for a generic 'High Definition Audio Device'.

Unfortunatley this driver doesnt work (Although in Device Manager it says thats the device is working)

I have tried Installing the correct driver through the device manager but Windows Insists its Generic Driver is best.

My Realtek driver can be installed and will work but once i've rebooted it disappears leaving me with no sound but an OS that says all working perfectly.??

ANyone know how to solve this issue as i can find no reference to it anywhere else

Removing drivers from Vista

In Vista, every device driver you install is copied into the "driver store". This "store" is not somewhere you go to purchase drivers; instead, it's an area on the drive where Vista squirrels away device drivers for safe keeping. This is done so that, if you need to reinstall that device later, Vista already has the driver available.

Problem is, you may want to remove this driver so Vista doesn't use it anymore -- especially in the situation where the driver doesn't work, and after you remove the entry from Device Manager, upon reboot, before you can install a different driver, Vista automatically reinstalls the driver from the "store".

What you will need to do is locate the actual device "package" you need to remove and delete it from the driver store.

To locate the device "package", open an elevated command prompt window (enter"cmd" in the start area, then press ctrl-shift-enter) and enter "pnputil.exe -e". This will provide a list of all the third-party drivers installed.

Search the list for the driver version you want removed. It will be oem##.inf. (where ## is the actual two-digit number of the inf file)

To remove that driver, using the same elevated command window, enter "pnputil.exe -d oem##.inf" to be safe, find all the driver files and remove them all.

Then, you need to clean out the INF directory:
1) open %windir%\inf\setupapi.dev.log in Wordpad
2) search for ", this will be found on a DevDesc line
3) look a few lines up for the "inf:" line. It will say Openeded INF: and at the end of the line, you will see the actual name of the inf file.
4) remove that file from the INF directory.
5) look for ServiceBinary=c:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS containing a reference to the same inf file. That's the driver file to delete.
6) continue this process, search for all the inf sequences and DRIVERS references, removing the files from the INF and DRIVERS directories as needed.

Also, be sure to remove the device from Device Manager before you reboot.

i just bought a sound blaster x-fi sound card and installed it into my vista computer, i have some logitech speakers hooked up to it, but i dont get any sound. i have reinstalled the drivers that came with the card, and unistalled and reinstalled the hardware drivers for the x-fi, but still no sound. is there some settings or something i've got screwed up? does anyone know what is going on?
